Mumbai: Policenama Online – Maharashtra Weather Alert | The Meteorological Department has predicted that the intensity of pre-monsoon rains will increase in Maharashtra and has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for a total of 15 districts in the state. Currently, the state has cloudy weather and favorable conditions have been created for pre-monsoon rains. Against this backdrop, there is a strong possibility of moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds in some areas.
District-wise, thunderstorms are expected in the districts of Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik in North Maharashtra. Similarly, light to moderate rain showers with cloudy weather are expected in the five districts of Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Kolhapur in West Maharashtra.

On the other hand, a yellow alert has been issued for Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Gondia and Nagpur districts of Vidarbha, while an orange alert has been issued for heavy rains in 4 other districts. This is likely to bring some relief to the people of Vidarbha from the scorching summer.
Considering the possibility of lightning and storms due to this changing weather, the administration has appealed to farmers to take due care while doing agricultural work and citizens to avoid standing under trees or in open spaces during lightning strikes.
